Callum McFadzean arrived at the Racecourse Ground in the January 2022 transfer window, as the second new signing of the month.

The left wing-back advanced through the Sheffield United academy, and was part of their FA Youth Cup runners-up team in 2011. He made his senior debut for the Blades, and also spent time on loan with Chesterfield, Burton Albion and Stevenage.

He moved north of the border to sign for Kilmarnock before dropping into non-league with Alfreton Town and Guiseley.

McFadzean's return to the EFL was a triumphant one, however - helping first Bury and then Plymouth Argyle to promotion from League Two. That earned him a move to Sunderland, under Phil Parkinson, and after a brief spell with Crewe he is now reunited with Parkinson at the Racecourse Ground.
