Andy Cannon signed for Wrexham in December 2022, bolstering the midfield options and bringing with him a wealth of EFL experience - as well as having tasted promotion in the National League with Stockport County last season.

Originally hailing from the northwest, Cannon is a product of Rochdale’s academy, having made his first-team debut for the Dale against Leyton Orient in September 2014.

The 27-year-old went on to make over 100 appearances for the club, over a five-year period.

A move down to the south coast followed, as Cannon moved to League One side Portsmouth in January 2019. During his time at Pompey, the midfielder made 63 league appearances, while also netting three times.

Following the expiry of his deal at Fratton Park, Cannon would move back up north, signing a deal with Championship side Hull City ahead of the 2021/22 season.

During his time with the Tigers, he made 15 appearances in the Championship. Cannon would then join Stockport County in March 2022, on a loan until the end of the season.

The midfielder achieved back-to-back promotions in the National League with Stockport County during the 2021/22 season, before moving across to the STōK Cae Ras from Hull for the 2022/23 season – where Cannon made 19 appearances in total.
