Canadian midfielder Charlie Trafford signed for Wrexham in October 2021 on an initial short-term deal.

Capped three times by his country, Trafford began his youth career with the likes of home-town club Calgary Foothills and Whitecaps Residency before spending time with De Graafschap in the Netherlands.

Trafford returned to North America in 2012 where he represented York Lions in college soccer before signing for SC Toronto in the Canadian Soccer League.

He eventually made his professional debut following a move to Finland when he signed for  IFK Mariehamn in the Veikkausliiga, upon the recommendation of his brother who was also playing in the country at the time. Trafford scored twice in seven games.

He went on to have spells with Turun Palloseura and later Kuopion Palloseura– the latter of whom he scored the goal of the season and earned player of the year in 2014.

In October 2015, Trafford was called up to the Canadian National Team for the first time, earning his debut cap against Ghana in a friendly. He went on to be capped against Korea (losing 2-0 in Cheonan) and against Scotland (drawing 1-1 at Easter Road).

Trafford went back to Finland in 2017 joining Rovaniemen Palloseura playing six games and scoring once during a month-long spell before his move to Scotland, joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

He made his Cally debut 24 hours after signing a three-year contract, facing Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship. His first goal came in April 2019 against Alloa Athletic.

In total, Trafford appeared 96 times for Inverness scoring four times. In the summer of 2020 he signed for Hamilton and first featured in the Scottish Premier League on the opening day away to Celtic.  His first and only Accies goal came against Ayr in the Scottish League Cup.

In October 2021 after spending two weeks on trial at the club, Trafford signed a short-term deal with Wrexham.
