Versatile Irish midfielder Tom O'Connor signed for Wrexham on Transfer Deadline Day, January 31 2022.

The third player through the door in the transfer window, the former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international signed from Burton Albion for an undisclosed fee.

Aged 22 at the time of signing, he had previously come through the Southampton academy before spending two seasons on loan at Gillingham.

O'Connor earned a move to Burton Albion when his Southampton contract expired, and he scored five goals in his half-season with the Brewers in League One.

Also capable of playing on the left side of defence, O'Connor signed a contract until June 2025 at the STōK Cae Ras.

The midfielder spent a period after signing getting up to fitness, but enjoyed some key performances, most notably against Chesterfield and Wealdstone.

He returned to the starting line-up after a period out injured for the Buildbase FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.

In the 2022/23 title-winning season, O’Connor made 24 appearances in the National League, scoring four times.
