Who's who behind the scenes at Wrexham AFC Women?

Luke Wynne - Manager

Luke first took charge of the new Wrexham AFC Women’s side in 2018 and in his short spell has steered Wrexham AFC Women to its first trophy, beating Rhyl Development in the 2019 final of the NWWFL Division 2 League Cup. Alongside this, he took the Women to promotion in their first season.

Luke holds a UEFA/FAW B licence. In addition to his role as Wrexham AFC Womens manager, Luke also coaches the Girls Performance Centre U12s.

Gemma Owen - Club Secretary

One of Gemma’s roles within the club is Club Secretary. She is responsible for managing the off-field running of the club.

Gemma has played a big role in promoting the women’s game in Wrexham through her role with the Racecourse Community Foundation over the last five years and alongside this role manages and coaches within the Girls Performance Centre which also forms part of our clubs female playing pathway.

Steven Dale - Assistant Manager

Assisting Luke with training and playing operations will be Steven Dale. Steve has previously worked with Gresford Athletic FC (mens first team), Wrexham AFC Boys Centre of Excellence and Liverpool FC Girls.

Away from the Womens team, Steve also coaches within the Girls Performance Centre with the U8s and U16s. He is highly experienced and has a sound knowledge of the female game.

Steven Jones - Goalkeeping Coach

Steven is currently involved with Wrexham AFC through the Boys Centre of Excellence and the Girls Performance Centre working with the goalkeepers in the U10 – U16 age groups. He is a FAW/UEFA B Goalkeeper Licence holder.

Steve is also the current Goalkeeper coach for the FAW Trust North Wales regional boys.

Gaynor Davies - Sports Therapist

Gaynor joins the club as Women's first-team sports therapist. Her role will see her leading pre-training/game activation as well as being responsible for the medical treatment and rehabilitation of the players.

Gaynor is currently also involved with Holywell FC men’s first team. She has also worked with North Wales Netball and Wales Netball U17s as Strength and Conditioning coach for the past five years. Her qualifications include Sports Injury diploma, First Aid for Sport and Exercise and Level 3 Personal Training & GP referral.
