James Jones signed for Wrexham on a free transfer at the start of the 2021/22 season.
The energetic midfielder began his football career at Crewe Alexandra, where he played in both League One and Two with the Railwaymen.
He featured 167 times for the Alex across a six-year period, with his final season with the club ending in promotion to League One.
Before the 2019/20 season was curtailed, Crewe were top of League Two, but finished second on points per game.
The central midfielder’s performances had caught the eye of Lincoln City, which saw Jones move to Sincil Bank on a free transfer at the conclusion of his contract with Crewe.
During his time with the Imps, he played 36 games in Sky Bet League One, before signing for Wrexham on a three-year deal.
In his first season, he regularly operated in Phil Parkinson’s midfield three alongside Luke Young and Jordan Davies.
Jones’ most notable Wrexham goal in his debut season came at Notts County in the FA Trophy, where he scored a last-minute winner at Meadow Lane to send the Club into the semi-final.
The midfielder was an ever-present in Phil Parkinson's title-winning team last season, as Jones missed just three matches during the 2022/23 league campaign, scoring four goals.
