Red Dragons reign triumphant in Essex

6 April 2024

Wrexham AFC came from behind to earn all three points thanks to a late winner at Colchester United in the spring sunshine.

Chances were at a premium in the first half, though Wrexham did suffer the blow of losing the returning Jacob Mendy to injury after 34 minutes.

Colchester seized control early in the second-half, when John Akinde struck, but Wrexham fought back brilliantly.

Paul Mullin not only grabbed the equaliser, but also his 100th goal for the Club to level proceedings and then, with just five minutes of normal time remaining, Max Cleworth was the unlikely goalscoring hero – heading in his first league goal to wrap up three points on the road.

Take a look at how the Red Dragons’ first ever visit to the JobServe Stadium unfolded in the gallery above – captured by Club Photographer Gemma Thomas.
